ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

From 2007 to 2012 Wakefield was creative consultant to Adam Kimmel. During that time he cast look books and campaigns from his community of artists, created presentations including collaborating with George Condo for the Casino Collection, Gerard Malanga for a presentations of ‘screen-tests’, commissioned Marlboro campaign photographer to shoot a ‘Cowboy’ collection. He was also instrumental in the cementing of brand identity with the creation of a trilogy of short films addressing masculinity through the lens of Ari Marcopoulos’ kinetic vision of extreme downhill skating, Meredith Danluck's portrait of bull riding champion Rocky McDonnell and magician David Blaine’s encounter with great white sharks.


 

 

TRILOGY

Extending ideas of masculinity proposed within the Adam Kimmel collections, a trilogy of films were created that explored of the suit in confrontation with the gravity of California’s most notorious skater hill, an unridden bull and the great white sharks that congregate near the Pacific island of Guadalupe.

George Condo Casino Collection

For the Casino Collection (Fall Winter 2010) the former Yvon Lambert Gallery space was transformed into one night gambling den populated by characters developed by George Condo and masks made by Gabe Bartelos.

Jim Krantz - Cowboy collection

For the Cowboy Collection (Spring Summer 2010) former Marlboro photographer Jim Krantz was commissioned to to photograph cowboys and artists in Moab invoking a body of work better known through its appropriation by Richard Prince.

SCREEN TESTS

For the Spring Summer Collection 2009 Gerard Malanga was commissioned to create screen-tests identical to those made with Warhol in the sixties but featuring a current cast of artists and artworks personalities.
